Any idea what these are…?

Any idea what this is? Or rather, I should have used the plural and written ‘what these are’ given that there are several of them. In addition, I have to admit that this kind of impressionistic shot taken at night (shame on me as I still do not know how to use my camera properly to take pictures after the sun has set) makes it a little harder to guess what these ‘things’ are.

Really not? OK, I will give you some clues. First, it is related to Singapore (yes, yes … of course it had to be since we are still spending our holidays here … good point.)

Second, the picture shows only one section of the Merlion City’s latest attraction (which was opened to the public only this week). As an aside, I am always amazed at the unrelenting efforts the government of this city-state is willing to put in to maintain Singapore’s infrastructure at the very top level of what is done worldwide.

Third (and probably last) clue I will give you. The website for this attraction describes it as follows:

The [name of the attraction] captures the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to live and work – making Singapore a leading global city of the 21st century.

Still no idea? So the final clue I will be giving for sure … lah (to pepper my English with a favourite expression used here). This attraction is of (relatively short) walking distance from these other recently built attractions.

If you still have no clue … you will then have to wait for the entry to be written and published … which could take quite some time, I am afraid, given the backlog of entries (trip to the south of France in more detail, our rides on the Glacier Express and then the following weekend on the UNESCO listed Bernina Express — a mountain train that goes to Italy from Grisons/Graubünden –, more of CT’s holidays in Brunei & Sabah) …

  2. Kak Maznah … you are absolutely … right! Congratulations … This attraction is called SuperTree as part of Gardens By the Bay, which are indeed near Marina Bay … a great set of attractions which we hope to be able to explore in more depth on our next visit. I also look forward to CT’s entry on the Bernina Express.

  3. Paul, this is the latest attraction at Marina Bay – the so called Tropical Garden. You are lucky to be there just in time for their official opening. Quite a bit of publicity on this city lately here in M’sia. Enjoy. I am waiting for the Bernina Express entry..
